Dean of Education

Evangelist Sophronia M. McClendon

 

Evangelist Sophronia M. McClendon is the appointed Dean of Education.  She is a dedicated and compassionate Christian professional with more than 25 years of experience in service and leadership with the Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows organization.  She demonstrates expertise in leading committees to excellence.  Born in Chatham County, Georgia, she is married with four adult children and seven grandchildren.  Her hobbies are spending time with family, reading, writing, exercising and traveling.

Dean McClendon has been a Life Member of the MWMW since 1996 and currently serves in leadership position(s) across the Organization.  Throughout her tenure in the GAMWMW, she has held several positions including Appointed Treasure, IAMWMW, 2020-current; Asst. Financial Secretary, current; Asst. Treasurer, 2014-2018; Instructor of Education, 2010-2014; Medical Chairperson 2002-2010; Assistant Dean of Education, GAMWMW; 2013-2021; Director of Education, 2006-2013, Chair of Worship, Southeast Region, MWMW 2008-2012. Dean McClendon is a graduate of the Leadership Academy.

 

Dean McClendon is a Life Member, Savannah Baptist, Georgia Association, South East Regional, and International Association of MWMWs.  In the Savannah Association of MWMW, she has served faithfully in various positions such as Immediate past Financial Secretary, President, Vice President, and Recording Secretary.  Her professional background includes Masters of Health Administration, Ashford University, San Diego, CA; Bachelor of Science in Nursing and ADN, Armstrong State University, Savannah, GA.  She holds Certifications: CNOR, ACLS, PALS, BCLS. Affiliations: AORN, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, ELP, GCPN. Licensures: RN, State of Georgia, eNLC.  Dean McClendon is a licensed and ordained minister, a sought out speaker and conference leader and she walks in the calling of Evangelist as led by the Holy Spirit.  Evangelist Sophronia serves alongside her husband, Bishop Alfonza McClendon, Sr. in ministry for 28 years. 
 

Evangelist McClendon’s leadership goals are broad and includes working strategically with organizational and community stakeholders to implement a  successful program to increase membership satisfaction; Working diligently with the President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents and officers of the GAMWMW to bring about a more cohesive sisterhood; Providing educational and in-service opportunities during State convention to increase  skill competency for compliance for leadership in our regional and international organization; improve membership morale, satisfaction, engagement and retention.
