Education Director

Minister Gloria Barber Reeves

Minister Gloria Barber Reeves is the appointed Education Director for the Department of Education.  Born and raised in McDonough, Georgia.  Gloria has been a member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Georgia Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Interdenominational for 29 years; the GAMWMW, and the International Association of Ministers’ Wives and Widows. In 2021, she was elected to serve as President of the Atlanta Chapter. She served as Assistant to the GAMWMW 2021 Nominating Committee Chairperson in 2021.  She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated; remains connected and active with her Morris Brown College alumni family and the Henry County High School Class of 1979 alumni base.

She is a graduate of Morris Brown College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  She later attended the Victory Tabernacle Bible Institute.   Since 1999, Minister Reeves has shared diligently in the work of the Lord, as First Lady and a women’s ministry leader of Rising Star Baptist Church, Fayetteville, Georgia, alongside her husband, Pastor Milton Reeves. In November 2004, God sent her forth to proclaim His divine word through the preaching of the gospel. She is a licensed and ordained minister of the gospel. She is the mother of two daughters, Aria and Teylor.

She was visionary in starting the Women of Purpose Ministry to equip, empower and enhance women in the Body of Christ in their daily walk with the Lord by fostering a strong spiritual foundation needed in marriages, homes, jobs and daily living. Her vision has extended to Women’s Conferences, Women’s Retreats, Heart & Soul Monthly Women’s Bible Study, and S.H.A.R.E. (Sisters Helping All to Reach Eternal-Life for young ladies 18-35), S.H.A.R.E. Plus (pre-teen girls) and Sisterhood Weeks.  Minister Reeves has the gift of encouragement and has been called upon to facilitate and share her gifts that God’s has birthed in her at many retreats, workshops, conferences and community events. She has been an events planner and florist for over 30 years and has used her creative decorating techniques and skills in assisting over 100 couples and clients to transform their ideas and visions into their desired dream wedding or event.  

In October 2020, Minister Reeves retired after a 37-year career working for the Federal government.  Throughout her 37-year career, she worked at various Federal agencies. She retired from the position of Chief, Human Resources and Information Management Branch at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  Over her career, she held positions including Administrative Assistant, Training and Development Coordinator, Human Resources Specialist and Human Resources Officer and Branch Chief. Her life’s philosophy is, “if I can help just one somebody as I travel along, then my living will not be in vain.”
